Burke County, GA (1777) Land Records

We have copied over 3,000 Burke County plats from the State Archives, and are now copying over 2,000 Screven County plats. In 1777, the northwest corner of Burke was the Ogeechee River (now in Glascock County), and the northeast corner was the mouth of Brier Creek on Savannah River, east of Sylvania, GA., a distance of approximately 78 miles. There will be some missing plats, and some old plats that we are unable to plot on present maps. My mission is to plot as many as possible within the next 3 years or so; I am now about 1/10th finished. I began my surveying in Burke County in 1957.
